Mermaid watercolor

This is my latest "mini mural." I have it printed and precision cut out on vinyl decal material so it can be stuck to the wall. The head goes a few inches in front of the tail so it looks like she's leaning over the edge of something. Kathy's dogs...

This is an acrylic painting on canvas that I did in October 2011. The client who commissioned the portrait had me combine the two photos below becuase he liked their positioning in the bottom photo but the look on the dog on the left's face better in the top photo. I changed the background because I thought the background in the photo was too busy and had too much black in it. So to really make the black dogs stand out, I chose a red backdrop with just a suttle hint of a window with light shining through in the background. This is the first dog portrait I've done and the first acrylic painting on canvas that I've done. I really enjoyed it but I still like watercolors the best. However, if people were commissioning me to do portraits in acrylic all the time...I wouldn't mind acrylics so much :)
